1 down, 16 to go

Really, I don't know if I can use that as the title. I was only with the older group for about an hour. Then one of my coworkers in the other room had to go home so I took over for her. That meant I was back in the room I've been in all summer. Well, on the bright side, for the time I was with the oldest group, I seemed to be okay.

One of the more interesting points of the day was that the kids had woodworking with a teacher who really didn't seem to like kids. Maybe it isn't fair to say he didn't like kids, but he definitely didn't have much patience with them. Maybe he was just cranky because of the heat. At any rate I found the scenario rather amusing.

Not bad.

Okay, so I only posted 3 tmes this month even though I said I'd update more frequently. Well, relatively speaking, that is more frequently. :)

Summer's been pretty good so far. I was only supposed to be working 2 days a week in July which I was really looking forward to. However, I was also listed as supply staff so I usually ended up working 3-4 days a week. I would have enjoyed the time off but I'm not going to scoff at making extra money either. I'm a little scared about the next three weeks though. I'll be working 5 days a week, full time, in the room with the oldest (8-12 years) and most "challenging" group of kids. I'm hoping that because they aren't used to having me around all the time, it will mean that they proceed with caution at first. I figure if I can establish myself as someone to respect before they get too comfortable with me, I'll be okay. Must remember: do not show fear. They can smell it. ;) So far it's been pretty good though. I'm with the group of 5-8 year olds for July. They can be a handful too but they're also a lot of fun.

Hmm....

Not too much interesting stuff to update my blog with. Hmmm. I had a pretty good Canada Day weekend minus the food poisoning. Other than that I've pretty much just been working at the day care. That's been okay. Yesterday was a bit rough though. (Friday the 13th - Woooo! <---scary noise) Out of 12 teachers 5 took the day off. That left us with 7 regulars +1 emergency supply on a day when we're supposed to take 2 out of 3 rooms to a swimming pool about 2 city blocks away. Last week we had 6 teachers for the outing and it went really well. This week we had 4 - it didn't go as well. :( On the bright side, once we got back to the day care, it wasn't so bad. I've been feeling a little nostalgic since I was in France this time last year. Days like that make me wish I was back there instead.
