Incoherent messages
Hi all,
If you're wondering why my last message stopped rather abruptly it's because the connection at this internet cafe isn't great. So I posted part of it, then before I could finish the connection went down for long enough that I decided to just leave. From now on when I update here I think I'll publish every paragraph to avoid losing paragraphs of text.
So last night when I got home I found a care package that Leah had sent me. It was nice sentiment but can I really eat 10 boxes of pocky sticks before I leave? I've been sharing with my housemates, friends, anyone who wants one, really. We'll see if I have to take any unfinished pockys with me back to Toronto.
Oh, guess what! Most of you don't care but I read a manga comic book and they have it here in French. They've published five volumes more than have been published in English. I was so excited - I'm such a nerd. Naturally I've already bought one and plan on getting the rest before I leave. I look at them as educational material.
So my plans for this week pretty much involve going to school and doing homework. Ooh, exciting. I want to go to Paris on Saturday so after I leave here (and pick up more manga) I'll probably head off to la gare (the train station) to see if I can buy a return ticket for Saturday.
School is going well. I enjoy it as much as one can enjoy school in the summer I suppose. That is to say that I'd rather be at the beach or in Paris but my competence in French is increasing while my proficiency in English decreases. ;) When I go back to Canada I'll just grunt and point when I want something. I suppose that's not all that different from before.
Hope you're all keeping cool. It's been brutally hot here but it's starting to cloud over and it's a little cooler. Oh air conditioning, how I miss you . . .

Educational material, yeah, that's it,
yeah.
Off to gay Paris again? Or have they changed that expression now?
Anyway, have fun, and the days of air conditioning aren't too far off now.
We're looking forward to grunting with you when you get back.
Love,
Dad

Fine, you don't like it, send it back. Ungrateful poopersnoot. :P
Which manga is it? Furuba? BTW, I lent Bruce your Furuba DVDs. I figure, you're not around to object, so they're fair game.

It's funny I didn't even notice that the last entry ended abruptly.
I'm curious on which manga it is too. I didn't think most manga would get translated to french before english.
Things have cooled down considerably here after a pretty heavy storm. It's actually been quite nice the last couple days.

My brother mentioned that after his course in Quebec he found himself having to stop and think about what it is he wanted to say in english while the french for it was right there on his lips.
I'm happy to see we're still reading your blog in english. ;)
Good hearing from you as usual. :)

The day that you do your postings here in French will be the end for me because I only know a word or two in French like you know, traffic, road signs???? But I have the perfect solution to our language problem - I will do my comments in Tagalog...there you go, we're even now.
But to be able to speak French as flawlessly as you can is the object of your one-month gig there, isn't it? I can't wait to actually hear you speak it when you get back. Maybe, you can teach me then how to say a sentence or two in what I always say is the most beautiful language.
We are also experiencing a heat wave here but at least tonight, there is a nice, cool breeze. A/Cs here are going non-stop for so many days now.
Well, I do wish for you another stint in Paris before you head back home. I really think you should do it for the second time.
Nice to hear from you again. What is manga, by the way? What are pocky sticks? Just curious!

Yay! It's nice to hear you're having a good time in France.
The food sounds amazing. I understand you wanting to spend your money on food.
Have fun in Paris.

Q and A time with Caty!
Of course it's furuba (Fruits Basket).
Manga is a Japanese comic book.
Pocky sticks are a Japanese snack food. Like a pretzel with different flavoured icings on it. So far, I've liked the milk chocolate kind the best. The purple yam tasted kind of funny in a not so good way. Other people liked them though. Said they were "interesting."
I'm taking the train to Paris with the niece of my homestay mom. I'm probably meeting up with friends there and I'm coming back on my own (at 7:30 pm) Still 3 hours of daylight after that. Relax mom.
